Addax Shoulder Mount
This attractive Addax mount has a good horn size and meticulous craftsmanship, earning it a rating of “Excellent.” They are indigenous to Africa’s Sahara Desert and are also referred to as “screw-horn antelope” or “white antelope.” With the exception of the dark area on their forehead, addax are known for their pale (almost white) pigmentation across their bodies, which is why they are called “white antelope.” They have an amazing, ringed horn that twists back over their shoulders and head. The species has horns on both males and females.
This lovely example has horns that are 25 4/8″ and 24 1/8″ (inches) long. Observe that the right horn is slightly shorter than its left counterpart since it lacks the tip. Each base is 5 3/8 inches in size.
The total mount dimensions are 44 inches high/tall, 18 inches broad, and 25 inches deep. The mount is supported by a single, firmly fastened fastener. Due to a bare area on the chest where the hair had been worn off, this White Antelope received an Excellent grade instead of a better one. (See the detailed pictures of his left side in the attachment.) With its head up and facing left into the room, this mount still looks fantastic.
